Nawaz Sharif government in 1994 took serious steps to curb free and fair criticism of Jung Newspaper by restraining its import of paper. This was the most difficult period for the Jung Group; it can be understood from the fact that country’s most popular newspaper was compelled to restrict its newspaper to a one page. This group was not allowed to import paper because of which it had to curtail publishing. Furthermore, Musharraf Government although got credit for media freedom by allowing people to view Geo News live Online but disliked free and fair media. This government decided to privatize steel mill and to make money out of this deal. The chief justice took a courageous step to stop the corrupt practice of government.
